SDL MK17 17Km Wireless Data Link for for Industrial UAV Operations – FHD video, Telemetry Data, RC Signals, 800MHz-2.4GHz Bands

17Km Wireless Data Link Product Overview:

The SDL MK17 17Km Wireless Data Link is a highly integrated wireless transmission system engineered for long-range unmanned aerial vehicle operations. Capable of simultaneously transmitting full high-definition video, telemetry data, and radio control signals over distances up to 17 kilometers, this system serves as the critical communication backbone for Fixed-wing Platforms, Multi-rotor Drones, and FPV & Specialized Platforms operating in demanding industrial environments.

Internally designated as the M51 variant, the MK17 17Km Wireless Data Link operates across three selectable frequency bands: 800 MHz, 1.4 GHz, and 2.4 GHz. Frequency selection is configurable through a web-based interface or dedicated software, allowing operators to adapt to regional spectrum regulations and interference conditions. The system features a comprehensive interface suite including HDMI, SDI, CVBS, UART, SBUS, and Ethernet ports, making it exceptionally versatile for diverse drone industry applications.

Integrated Video, Data, and Control Transmission of MK17 17Km Wireless Data Link

The MK17 17Km Wireless Data Link embodies a true “all-in-one” transmission architecture, consolidating image streaming, digital telemetry, and command control into a single radio link. The air unit accepts video input through HDMI, SDI, CVBS, or Ethernet interfaces, while the ground unit outputs decoded video via HDMI or Ethernet. Two independent UART channels and an SBUS port handle bidirectional data and RC transmission, enabling simultaneous flight control, payload management, and telemetry monitoring without requiring separate radio modules.

This integration significantly reduces system complexity, weight, and power consumption for airborne platforms while simplifying ground station setup. Operators benefit from a unified link budget and single antenna configuration rather than managing multiple independent transmitters and receivers.

MK17 17Km Wireless Data Link Extended Range Performance

The MK17 17Km Wireless Data Link delivers exceptional communication range under line-of-sight conditions. The M50 variant achieves 7 kilometers, while the M51 (MK17) extends operational reach to 17 kilometers. This performance envelope supports beyond visual line of sight missions for BVLOS Antenna Tracking System deployments, long-endurance mapping operations, and infrastructure inspection flights where maintaining continuous connectivity is mission-critical.

The extended range capability is achieved through advanced RF amplification, high-gain antenna compatibility, and optimized modulation schemes that maximize spectral efficiency while maintaining link robustness.

Frequency Hopping and Fixed Frequency Operation of SoarApex MK17 17Km Wireless Data Link

The MK17 17Km Wireless Data Link supports both frequency hopping spread spectrum and fixed frequency operating modes, selectable based on mission requirements. Frequency hopping mode provides enhanced interference resilience and security by rapidly switching across multiple frequencies within the allocated band. This mode is ideal for contested electromagnetic environments where intentional or unintentional jamming may occur.

Fixed frequency mode with narrow bandwidth allocation enables coordinated multi-aircraft operations. When operating up to four drones in the same geographic area, fixed mode prevents mutual interference by assigning discrete frequency channels to each aircraft. This capability is essential for swarm operations, formation flying, and coordinated UAV Control Station management of multiple assets.

Ultra-Low Latency Encoding and Decoding

Employing advanced codec technology, the MK17 17Km Wireless Data Link achieves data transmission latency below 30 milliseconds. For full high-definition video at 1080P resolution and 60 frames per second, end-to-end latency remains under 200 milliseconds. These figures represent industry-leading performance that provides operators with a genuine real-time experience during precision flight maneuvers.

Low latency is particularly critical for first-person view piloting, close-proximity inspection tasks, and emergency response scenarios where split-second decision-making depends on accurate video feedback. The sub-200ms video latency ensures that operators perceive no perceptible delay between control input and visual response.

Point-to-Point and Relay Operating Modes

The MK17 17Km Wireless Data Link offers two primary network topologies. In point-to-point mode, a direct radio link connects the airborne unit to the ground station, providing the lowest possible latency and simplest configuration. This mode is optimal for standard missions where direct line-of-sight can be maintained.

Relay mode extends application scenarios by introducing an intermediate airborne or ground-based repeater node. In this configuration, both video and data signals from the transmitting end are forwarded through the relay station back to the primary ground control position. Relay mode enables operations in terrain-masked environments, urban canyons, and forested areas where direct line-of-sight is obstructed. This flexibility allows system integrators to design more comprehensive drone solutions for challenging operational theaters.

Dual-Layer Encryption Security

The MK17 17Km Wireless Data Link incorporates dual encryption technology to safeguard wireless video and data transmission against interception and unauthorized access. Users can enable encryption functionality and establish private encryption keys through the web interface or configuration software. This security architecture ensures that sensitive mission data, proprietary video footage, and control commands remain protected throughout the transmission chain.

The encryption implementation addresses growing cybersecurity concerns in commercial and government drone operations, where data integrity and confidentiality are increasingly regulated requirements.

Broad Gimbal and Payload Compatibility

The MK17 17Km Wireless Data Link supports the majority of professional gimbal systems available on the market through its versatile interface selection. HDMI, SDI, CVBS, and Ethernet inputs accommodate cameras from leading manufacturers regardless of output format. The UART interface supports two communication protocols: MAVLink for standardized autopilot integration and Transparent mode for custom protocol implementations. UART signal levels are configurable between TTL and RS232, with the specific configuration specified at time of order to ensure seamless integration with existing avionics architectures.

This broad compatibility eliminates the need for proprietary adapters or signal converters, reducing integration time and potential points of failure for UAV Industrial Solution deployments.
